Greetings! Well, I have made contact with my local SCA group -- the Barony of Stierbach! I have to get busy making myself some proper garb as there is an event Labor Day Weekend! I think I have found my SCA-name....Cristiane Paxton. Cristiane is Scots, and a woman's name from lowland Scotland post 1400. Since my paternal ancestors were lowland Scots, this works perfectly! Lady Karen Larsdatter, the Chatelaine of Stierbach suggested that I try it out for awhile to see if I remember to answer to it. I need to continue the research and see if lowland Scots were using surnames at this time or not...I know my surname is from that area but not sure at what point in Scots history it began to be used as a surname. Much to learn! :-) I also want to pinpoint a time period and begin developing my persona. This is going to be so much fun! What a fun way to learn my ancestors' history. I've been in contact with the Holda of the Knowne Whorl Spinners Guild, also...and the Atlantian Embroiderers Guild...and the Stierbach Illumination workshop leader.... :-D

The only other news to report is that I'm seeing my GP tomorrow and I've finally made an appointment with a Specialist to see about my CFSIDS and possible FMS. I hurt from head to toe and the brain fog is such a nuisance!

Oh, almost forgot, Arnold the Dragon has been making strange sounds...like he's trying to cough up flim or something but there's no mucus or anything else to indicate illness. He is eating, basking, etc. I'll keep an eye on him. Not know his age but considering the difficulties of his life before he came to me, he may be not long to this world. I've considered taking him to the vet but I doubt there's anything that can be done for him other than keep him comfortable and let nature take it's course.
