Good Morning and Welcome to my bLog!

I've been doing some internet exploring and discovered an interesting group -- SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism)! Sounds like lots of fun and an opportunity to meet and learn from others who appreciate the "ancient arts". I've always been fascinated with the Middle Ages and the Renaissance...and, along with learning spinning and knitting from a pre-1600's POV, I'd also love to learn the art of Illumination. All-in-all, I'm quite excited!

The latest issue of Natural Home is out. Just bought mine copy this morning. Looks like they have some interesting articles -- one on decluttering, one on alternative building, and one about "luxury bathing"....ummmm....

I've changed the name of my blog as I have decided to not continue developing the FHGSanctuary. I would rather devote my time and energy to caring for the creatures that God places with me than to worry about the legal hassles of a 501(c)3 and I don't have the energy to actively seek out animals in need of rescue. I'm sure they will continue to cross my path and my animal population will continue to outnumber me!

I finished sock number one and have started the matching sock. I finished spinning a second spindle full of the Jacob fleece on Friday. Saturday night I decided to ply it using the Andean plying technique. Shouldn't have done it Saturday night as I was a passenger in a van involved in an accident Saturday afternoon and wasn't in the mental shape to deal with plying. Ended up with a huge tangled mess! I managed to save most of it but it did require cutting the yarn a few times. I'll use this skein for my test swatch.

I've decided that I'm going to spin the "metallic silver" mohair fleece with the brownish gray churro. I think that will result in a lovely yarn and hopefully enough to make something delicious out of it.

I'm still working on cleaning the free suffolk fleece I was given.'s starting to pile up!
